One of the main reasons that a lot of women and many men too start to knit is because they want to be able to follow baby knitting patterns. This way they can make some beautiful handmade knit items for the babies in their family as well as for the babies of friends.
Often those who first start out with knitting assume that because the baby’s attire is so small that it will take no time at all to knit up something beautiful. They soon find out that this is not quite as easy as it looks, and there are a few reasons why.
The type of yarn used
Usually, the baby knitting patterns call for a lightweight yarn, which is very fine. For the new knitter, it can be more difficult handling this type of yarn compared to the thicker ones. It also takes longer for the baby knitting patterns to come together because of the fineness of the yarn. So even though the finished product is going to be small, the fine wool requires more stitches.
Another thing that is often found with the baby knitting patterns is that they give instructions for the use of smaller needles. This is so the stitches will be knit close together, giving the article of clothing a close knit finish. Smaller needles mean more stitches which in turn means more time.
Complex baby knitting patterns
Quite often the pattern designs for the baby knitting patterns can be quite detailed and complex. This means having to learn several different types of stitches in order to be able to follow the pattern.
There is no doubt that using baby knitting patterns to create baby outfits is fun and rewarding but it is also important to understand that they are not as easier as they first may appear to be.
